My name is Taylor, and I’m an academic editor who specializes in the humanities and the social sciences. I hold a PhD in English literature, and for nearly a decade I’ve been teaching critical theory and academic writing to graduate students at an art school in Portland, Oregon.
Over the years I’ve guided dozens of master’s students through every stage of the thesis process, from ideation to proposal, then through various drafts to final product.
This mentorship role has taught me to respect academic writing as a deeply creative practice. Far from being a coldly analytical form of expression whose sole purpose is to advance a career, academic writing can — and should — be a nourishing intellectual practice driven by purpose as well as experimentation.
